ATHelite Triathlon Club - 2010 Membership
Please note 2010 membership fees for the triathlon club are now due. Membership forms can be collected from the Hamilton Shop or by requesting one by email. Forms and fees (£30 for the year) can be returned to either Genevieve, Colin or Mandy.
Weekend Training 30th/31st January
Saturday 30th – Bike - turbo session upstairs in the Studio at the Hamilton Shop at 9.30am. Session will last approx 1hr - 1hr 15. Bring a turbo/rollers, fluids & a couple of towels for mopping your sweaty brows (& the floor!!). Oh, and a bike.
Sunday 31st - Long steady run. Please note we are now meeting back at our old meeting point at the top of Hurlawcrook Road just before the turn off for Langlands golf course. Kick off, 9am.

AGM - ADIL 27/06/10
A good AGM and a nice turn out, thanks everyone for coming along and supporting the club.
Regarding A Day in the Lakes Sunday June 27th 2010. Entries now open
1.2 mile swim in Ullswater - England's most beautiful lake
56 miles cycle - including the Kirkstone Pass
13 miles run - mix of track, fell and road
Leave a comment if you are doing it on your own, if you want to do it as part of a team and which leg you would prefer.
We can compile teams once we have a list of names.
There is an option to go down on the Saturday night and have a BBQ or if that doesn't suit you can drive down on the Sunday morning (!!) some of us will be staying the Sunday night too. Do what suits you.

Sunday Run
Sunday 24th January - Long steady run. Please note we are reverting back to our old meeting point at the top of Hurlawcrook Road just before the turn off for Langlands golf course.
As it's back to the road sessions (long and easy), it 's a great time to start back if you haven't been on the Sunday run for a while. See you there at 9am!

Sunday 17th January - Long steady run. We shall be meeting up at the back entrance to the wind farm at the top of Ardochrig Road. No more snow (well maybe still a little), no more freezing/baltic temperatures and no more EXCUSES!!! See you there at 9am!

New Road Bike....
Can anyone recommend/suggest a road bike - I want internal cable routing, light weight, compact chainset and they must make it small enough for me. I like trek but they seem to be heavy. I like felt. And I probably like lots of other but I just don't know it!

Core Strength Training
Looking for a good Core Strength Workout? I will answer for you - 'YES!' Here is the one we used last year whilst training for the Ironman. It is good as you get a little video to make sure you are doing it correctly. Remember - if you are training for a big event in 2010 you need to prepare your body to withstand the training load & avoid injury - this session once or twice a week will do that - just build up gently but start now.

NEW YEAR, NEW TRAINING SCHEDULE, NEW YOU!!!!
Time to get going again after the festive indulgences!! And to get you started here's the first full weekend training schedule for 2010......
Saturday 9th – Bike - it’s the first turbo session of 2010 and NO, Genevieve is not likely to ease us in gently with an easy session, so you better have been keeping that turbo trainer dust free over the holidays and been practising!! As a group session it's great fun, motivating and also burns some serious calories! It is upstairs in the Studio in the Hamilton Shop at 9.30am. Session will last approx 1hr - 1hr 15. Bring a turbo/rollers, fluids & a towel for mopping your sweaty brows. Oh, and a bike.
Sunday 10th – Run - This will be not the first but the SECOND Sunday run of 2010 as there were some hardy, albeit mad, folks out last Sunday and by all accounts they had great fun - not sure how much running took place though in the foot deep snow! Forecast at the moment is for a balmy zero degrees so weather & roads permitting the Sunday run will start off from the rear entrance to Whitelees Wind Farm at the top of Ardochrig Road at 9am. Make sure you wrap up warm with lots of layers……everyone is welcome and it's a great time to join in as the distance will not be too long and will build up gradually as the weeks progress (and the snow finally disappears!).
