Review of the week!

Last week was week 1 of our 2010 Ironman training plan and it went pretty much to plan. We managed a good 3 hr ride on Monday over Eaglesham Moor in the snow followed by a short 15 min run to start to train our transition legs.
I did an additional big roller session followed by a 5k run brick (cross country in the snow) plus a couple of commutes & G did another 3 hr bike & run with wee Dawn.
We didn't do the Bundy due to the horrendous weather. Maybe this week.
Only 2 swims this week due to Easter hours (2k of efforts on Tues & 3k on Fri).
Whilst we are focussing on our riding our running is not really happening yet so we need to get this kick started ASAP (today!)
We did our first 10 mile TT of the year at Cambusbarron yesterday - great conditions, good course & a few Ek roadies there. I was 25.17 & G was 27.00 - both PB's on our first TT of the year so we can't ask more than that. These TT's are on right through the Summer so we can hopefully get some more in on this course.
We finished up 2 hours short of our 14 hr target, we'll see if we can hit our 15 hrs this week. If the weather is more favourable it would help & it looks like it should improve after Tuesday.

My week was much easier
swim ,swim, commute, run ,commute ,fiddle with TT bike and finally RACE
The aim to complete the sprint in less than 80 mins
The venue was Coupar fife
the hiccup was the closure of the main street meaning 3 different attempts to get to the venue .
Equipment check - bike ,helmet goggles(x2 Alan) ,trisuit (x2) trainers (x2) ,bike shoes (x1) gloves , gilet and RED BULL-to give me flippers not wings .
Got into transition first and bagged the slot nearest the pool for my heat and got set up . Then the waiting .Estimated swim time of 17 hrs got me into the first sprint heat and the first lane . Off last and took three chaps in 10 lengths and settled into a steady hypoxia induced trance counting 1 , 2 , breath for the remainder . got the head slap and was surprised to find only 14mins 11 secs on my watch . defo hypoxia or pressed stop i thought . Anyway no stirling type beached whale exit - those walkbacks do work jack- and sprint to the bike . Reasonable T1 but did think why if i put baby powder in my socks etc did i not put it in the gloves . Anyway at least 20 secs of FAB and i was out on the bike . Took the first person at 2 k then the second at 9 k and then spent the next lap hoping not to be caught . Had to stop for people riding 4 abreast with an oncoming rangerover and also at the right turn because the traffic was not stopped ( i failed to indicate as i was taking evasive action - prat in the road - at the time but a clear run into T2 and no errors made bar keeping gloves on . The run is pretty much flat but my lack of run fitness showed when three people ran past me one on each lap ( one said at the end his 5k run pb is 19 mins so i dont feel to bad). Finished in 1 17 35 ish so well chuffed
and yes it was a bit faster than last year
so san mig to remind me of lanza and some anti inflammatory vino tinto and a good sleep left me looking forward to the Ayr duatlon ....not as bill and ted would say
